The Role
I enjoyed the variation of the tasks I was given, and also had a longer term project to work on throughout the duration of the internship.
My colleagues were approachable, always willing to answer questions and made me feel like part of the team from the beginning. This was a huge factor in my enjoyment of the internship.
I had three meetings with my counsellor at different points of the internship. This helped me to asses my progress and also to plan targets for the remaining time.
I tried to be pro active in searching for work however there were times when I did not have much work to do. I would have liked to have been given some more work during the quieter times.
I was invited to several client meetings so had the responsibility of representing the firm.
The skills I developed will help me when I begin my graduate job as I will be working in the same office and business area.
The Company
Very positive atmosphere, I was working in one of the smaller regional offices and I liked the fact that everyone seemed to know each other.
Very well organised, the recruitment team were in regular contact leading up to and during the internship.
Colleagues working at all different levels took the time to explain things to me where I did not understand or was learning something new. During the induction week we were given some training on general business skills.
Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a job which I have accepted
The Culture
There were a couple of after work social events which I participated in. The introduction week and final event were very fun and a good way to meet and get to know other interns.
I was able to live at home during the internship
I was working in the Newcastle office where nightlife is really good
I participated in the coast to coast cycle ride in my first week of work.
