The Role
I really enjoyed returning to ARM for my placement. I was also sponsored by ARM for my Master's research which was a great help. I got to have a high level of responsibility and was involved in a lot of work with senior managers, so got exposure to the company as a whole.
At certain times I felt really valued and at others I didn't, I think it just depended on the task that I was completing for example little admin tasks vs. organising quarterly financial results.
My supervisor was great. She was always available for advice and guidance if I needed any, whether it be via email, skype, text, phone.
My role varied in regards to this. At times of quarterly financial results and quarterly team update, I found myself to be too busy. But then at other times I didn't have as much on, but I was still busy catching up with the backlog of work.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, for example I was in charge of organising quarterly financial results which is a big task. Normally this would be completed by a manager. I was also given the responsibility of running team update, so I was working with members of the executive team on a regular basis.
I really feel that all my skills learned during my time at ARM can be applied to anything I do in the future, whether it was my masters research or my next role.
The Company
I really enjoyed the atmosphere in my office as it was an open plan office with around 20 people. It was often noisy but I like this atmosphere as I work well in busy environments. Also, there was always people around to help if needs be and everyone was really friendly and helpful.
It was well organised and I knew what was expected of me well in advance, which was set clear in my aims and objectives. I also had weekly 1:1's so in terms of that, it was well organised.
I don't feel this is particularly applicable. I didn't attend any personal development courses or anything like that, although I would have like to attend some conferences and seminars but wasn't given the opportunity to. However, ARM did really support me with my masters research and also gave me sponsorship which really helped.

Really good. I would love to return to ARM in the future if there is an appropriate role for me to come back into. I have already returned to ARM once this year after completing my 3 month internship last year, so I think the door will always be open (hopefully!)
The Culture
Yes definitely. The summer students were constantly organising events for weekends e.t.c. There was a good social atmosphere. There is also a Yammer group for organising socials in Cambridge.
Having lived in Cambridge all my life, I find it very expensive. Living - rent is similar to London and socialising - similar to London also, depending on where you go.
I am not a big fan of nightlife in Cambridge but because of the excellent location it means you can travel to London very easily.
So so. I think the sports and social at ARM needs a bit of work. There isn't up to date information on the clubs and socities.
