The Role
The internship itself was very well organised. There were plenty of opportunities for socialising, networking and developing a deeper understanding about the various roles within the bank
I was given a lot of responsibility in the work I was doing and have seen that it made a great difference for the team I was working with in planning their 2014 strategy
I had a line manager who gave me my work and supported me throughout the internship and a buddy who I went for coffee with and talked to about anything and everything!
I was given five major projects and could structure my work as I chose to. I was also given the opportunity to go to regional hubs across the country for meetings and conferences.
I was given a lot of responsibility - the projects that I undertook were delivered to the managing director of the team, who in turn passed on some of the relevant information to the executive committee of the bank.
I developed my relationship building, team work and organisational skills. I think this is useful not just for university, but also for my career.
The Company
Although it was quiet, the team were friendly and I could always ask them questions when I needed to.
The internship was very well organised. I was able to mix with interns from all areas of the bank and engage with several senior leaders
The company organised banking and finance master classes, as well as presentation skills workshops in order to develop our technical and soft skills.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
I would be happy to go back and work there!
The Culture
Fellow interns were very sociable and there were various activities arranged for us so that we could meet up outside of work.
The area around Canary Wharf is quite expensive, but there are still cheaper places to eat and drink e.g. All Bar One etc.
Lots of pubs, bars and clubs which are very busy on Thursday and Friday nights
We were able to get involved with presentations, networking events, mentoring, and charity work.
