The Role
The internship for me was about finding out whether the job was right for me, and right from the word go I had every chance to explore this and loved the job by the end.
My colleagues ensured that I was given work that would challenge me and when I was up to the task they were very complementary, as well as being supportive throughout the whole process
The management were excellent in providing useful tips and hints as to the way to approach my work, as well as sitting down with me to talk about myself, the company and my future
I was given enough work to challenge me but my team also took time to ensure the work I was given would not be overwhelming and that I still had time to take breaks
My team ensured I was given challenging work above my own level, they also gave me whole sections of work to do independently which were reviewed by management after completion.
The job will, in terms of my degree, provide me with the real world understanding that I can apply to my theory I develop on my course. As I hope to continue doing this job in the future it should help me brilliantly in the years to come
The Company
There was a brilliantly developed balance between working and having fun, there was always the time to keep serious and do the work but people were happy to chat as well, and there were many evening social events to attend.
We had a very clear path we followed the whole time we were there, we knew what we would be doing week by week, from inductions, on to work and then final presentations and meetings towards the end of the programme as well as multiple supervisor meetings.
We had multiple training sessions to begin with, some were inductions into the company and some were more specifically about the job we would be performing. We also had multiple online courses we could complete in our time there.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Absolutely fantastic, not only are their plenty of graduate roles available, they also offer the majority of their interns jobs within the firm and the graduate programme you join has a clear progression path.
The Culture
All the interns on the programme had a good social spirit and we took time to chat with each other whether it was on lunch breaks or after work.
I was in Manchester, however given I was often out at client sites it was hard to gage costs of living etc. but they seemed reasonable
Manchester being a big city had a whole range of nightlife that you could explore depending on what you were looking for.
The company had an internal newspaper, sports teams and many social events as well as the CSR days you could go on twice a year.
