The Role
I got a good insight into the work of an auditor. EY made a big effort to keep us interns happy, lots of socials, training and exposure to great clients
EY really take care of their people. I had a mentor and a buddy to support me and guide me during the internship so I could make the most of the experience. Like encouraging me to ask for different projects.
Almost all management and supervisors at EY made a big effort to answer my questions.
I was left without anything to do on a couple of occasions. However I asked around the office and I usually found other work very quickly.
I have given graduate level work during the internship. I was surprised to be trusted with so much responsibility such as client interaction and writing audit files.
I study a bachelor of accountancy, this year I am taking an audit course and I can already apply what I learnt from EY here.
The Company
I was based in More London Place, EY's HQ. MLP is close to the Thames so there was a nice view. However I didn't get to enjoy it too much because I was at client sites most of the time.
Really strong Summer Internship team at EY.
I didn't feel very challenged by the experience. However there were some online training courses and I had to pick up the online audit system (GAMx) very quickly.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
the Big 4 = Big name on CV. However I am unsure if audit is the next step in my career after graduation. I am looking for something more hands on in business.
The Culture
Doing an internship in London is great for the social side.
Lunch was expensive. My family home is in London so I did not need to worry about rent during the internship. Although other interns had to rent and had very little change left over from their salary.
London Bridge is not too far away from good nightlife in London. However in audit, I was not based in this area of London.
I joined an EY sports club, other interns wrote blogs, used social media and we all took part in a CSR day.
