    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked on such a wide range of projects, including High Speed Two, Victoria Station Upgrade, a tender for Riyadh Metro, Heathrow Terminal 2 Concourse B and Crossrail. From each project I gained new skills and I enjoyed each of my roles.

  • My supervisor made me feel valued for my contributions, by offering praise where necessary.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor and Line Manager were seated very near to me, and were very approachable, allowing me to attain advice and support with ease.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Each of my project roles kept me busy, however I always felt that I could handle the workload and maintain a great work/life balance.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • On some projects I had greater responsibilities than on other projects, however I felt that as the year went on, I was progressively given more responsible roles.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My supervisor signed off many of my Development Objectives, and I attended various CPD presentations, so I feel my placement year will aid me in my journey to become a Chartered Civil Engineer. The engineering knowledge gained during my placement will certainly help me in my next two years of studies at university.
