The Role
Most of the work I carried out was done on my own and I was someimes left to my own devices to carry out theses jobs. I gained more confidence and levels of responsibilty from this.
As I work in a small team of 3 including me we all interact with each other on a daily basis and are a closee knit team.
As I worked on my own most days I did sometimes need the extra support from my managers but if i asked they always gave it to me.
Most days there were new tasks which I had to complete so time management was a key factor for this job as you needed to prioritise key jobs over others.
I had many different responsibilities handeed to me by my managers as I mangaged things well in the first few months of my internshio and by 10 months I had my own projects that I was carrying out. e.g eBay.
The skills that I have learnt whilst on placement are irreplaceable. I have learnt how to manage my time better, my confidence has grown and team working skills are at the highest level as I can work well with all members of a team, but I can also work constructively on my own and I can plan my days as per the importance of the jobs I have to do. I have met every deadline given to me and have managed to achieve some great results whilst here for 13 months. If I had not done a placement I would not go back to university set up with skills that can further me not only in education but hopefully later on in my working life.
The Company
The office environment is always on the go and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful.
As the team I started in had just re-organised itself and everyone was new. At the start of my internship it was very shakey as nothing was set but as everything developed so did the team as we started everything from scratch which I felt was a benefit to me as I was in the same position as my managers.
Being a base of the team I was left to do the day-to-day tasks on my own with full responsibility of these which to me meant that my managers entrusted these jobs to me to carry out.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Whilst there is no secured job for me to return to. Within Nike there is a great opportunity to return back to the company and everyone I have spoken to who has carried out an internship here ahs returned to the company after graduating.
The Culture
There is not a great social scene with placements students within London as things are quite expensive.
As I had a low internship wage I was unable to socialise asmuch as I wished as rent was very high.
The nightlife is ok, but again very expensive.
There are alot of activities which Nike offer to people, events, gym and other things. This creates a great morale within the company.
