The Role
The work itself was fun and allowed me to take part in large projects with big clients. Also, there was a large capacity to socialise with other interns, be it via HR or events we arranged ourselves.
There was a very close knit community inside EY. People of all levels and abilities would talk openly and also value my input.
My manager was brilliant and we still keep in contact now. Throughout the internship, they ensured I was coping well, had work and was having fun.
I entered at a very busy part of the year which squeezed my lunch break and pushed on my morning/evenings. However, as i enjoyed the work and the atmosphere it was acceptably.
I was actually shocked with the level of responsibility I was given. I was never patronised and the managers etc. in my team were very willing to stretch my abilities.
The work I did was a bit more technical than anything I'd be using at university. However I really developed skills relating to 'branding' myself, and developing a personal style. Also, my ability to process workflow and schedule my time was greatly enhanced.
The Company
The atmosphere is very friendly, open planned and on the whole, an intern could talk to a Partner/Senior manager at anytime (which I feel is a good metric of openness/friendliness.)
I always had work to do and there was a well planned training week at the beginning
Good week of formal training followed by much peer-peer informal training.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Very good firm that is at the forefront of its industry as well as providing good growth and career prospects.
The Culture
Brilliant. Definitely made a fair few friends that lasted post internship.
Lunch in the canteen was about £5 a day. Lunch externally would be £3-£10. Evenings out were quite expensive as per the rest of Central London.
Typical Central London places.
Introduced a few clubs during your first day which you could sign up to for free, although unsure as to participation rates among interns.
