The Role
fun working atmosphere, hard to get used to the reasonably long hours after spending all year at university, good integration with interns from other departments
highly valued by the end, but steep learning curve completely necessary before we were able to actually contribute
lots of guidance, my managers always had time for me and were enthusiastic about our discussions
real mixture, some weeks i had very little to do because my projects were dependent on external clients timelines, other weeks i was more busy
a reasonable amount, i think a fair level of responsibility given my low level of expertise. members of the team listened to what we had to say and we were given the chance to become the expert in a small area of research we were given
getting used to the corporate structure and the exposure to such a large company was a great experience as I now feel like I am ready for the real world of work. whereas just being at university and having worked at smaller companies I had no idea what it was like to work for a multinational
The Company
positive atmosphere. all very hard working and highly concentrated, reasonably quiet most of the time, but plenty of good chat with the other people and everyone brings food in to share when they come back from holidays
very well organised with frequent meetings to discuss how we felt it was going and what we direction we wanted to take it in. lots of inter departmental intern events organised by HR
lots of training sessions run by various members of the team, and many talks from across the company so the intern class as a whole
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
i was fortunate to get a job offer, the prospects were very high but it depends on the headcount. it is a growing firm but they obviously have limitations to the number of people they can hire
The Culture
not all that many of the interns were keen for socialising, but the ones that were up for it were great fun and i made several great friends
london is crazy expensive, no way around it
many pubs, lots of clubs in the shoreditch area which is not far away
some, a softball team and some charity races
