The Role
It was more enjoyable when my manager defined a focussed plan of action for me.
It was a friendly team who socialised a lot.
My line manager had my best interests at heart, although we had different working styles(I was planned and he preferred spontaneity)
I was not busy inititally because the company went through restructuring which changed my role and demotivated me as I wasnt sure who was supposed to give me work
Fair amount. I had to ask for this 6 months down the line before I felt my workload was dependent on me
I learnt many behavioural skills which university finance courses may not prepare you for such as teamwork, networking, communication skills etc
The Company
Fun. Very relaxed often.
Average. I was only the 2nd placement student in the dept. they had ever taken
A lot in personal development (PDP and regular reviews when I got a new director). Not as much in technical training, but this may not be relevant
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very appealing. There is no HR Grad programme however so i am cautious, but it is relaxed and trusting yet things get done flexibly
The Culture
Yes, we met by chance, but I made a few good friends who I saw everyday for lunch and helped me cope with difficulties in the beginning (eg getting lost in the head office buildings)
Quite expensive.
Not much. But this did not bother me because I lived in central london.
A fair share. More at the beginning of my year during induction. But many events for people leaving or being promoted which company paid for
