    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • the first few months were good as i was learning lots of new things but after that it got boring and i was not challenged enough

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • only worked closely with 1 member of team, as time went on there was a lot of restructuring and moving and i ended up actually working in a huge office all on my own. international firm so its expected to have and work with a team based all over the world. Would get good feedback once in a while but other than that, everyone was just busy.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers in team were good; if i asked for help or advice, i was helped. other members of staff were also very nice and gave my basic career advice. on the othr hand, supervisors were no help, felt abandoned and as though i was a spare part to them, the had too many interns to focus enough on each of them

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • some days were really busy and others almost had nothing to do. depended on schedule of firm

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • given tasks to carry on and do. they were open about this from day 1

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • gained useful presentation skills and was able to gain other skills such as excel and other online courses. written communication skills improved too. big firm so lots of resources available for extra learning.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • most worked from home

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • not very, big change left me with an unknown role

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • lots of course and online learning was freely available, wish i had completed some more

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

  • dont offer the area i want to go into.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • yes, everyone got on very well. all went out together. most lived together too. interns had own community. many interns in all locations - except the small ones. Even got on well with interns in other locations too

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • rent is expensive especially for someone who studied in the north. driving was expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • good if you lived in the local towns. the actual area was pretty residential, but the major towns were very good.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • a few were mentioned at start of placement, but during it hardly heard about them. Helped in a kids days, big firms such as this are able to offer these and its nice to be involved.
