The Role
It was a really fun week: stimulating, challenging, rewarding, sociable.
People took the time both to explain work to you, and to thank you for it when you had completed it. Vac schemers were included in discussions of live matters.
Occasionally, the heavy workloads of people in supervisory roles meant they were unable to offer guidance at some times.
There was always something to be getting on with. It was occasionally frantic, and occasionally quiet. It was never dull though.
On my first day, I signed as a witness on a deal worth millions of pounds.
It was a great way to appraise myself, work out my strengths and weaknesses, and make improvements where necessary.
The Company
One department was really fun and relaxed; the other was more quiet, but still equally pleasant and laid back. Everyone was surprisingly friendly, even partners.
Very efficient: calendar invites for all the scheduled activities, clear timetabling, prompt starts. Fantastic.
Training and induction was thorough, and we went into our departments feeling pretty secure about what we were doing. It was only for two weeks, so personal development opportunities were naturally limited.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I would absolutely love a job there. There are enough places for the good people to get offers.
The Culture
We had a couple of fun nights out!
Central London is expensive, of course. But the bars are great, and it's fun to be around young professionals when they let their hair down.
Central London: where could be better? We were near some good bars, and went out on Brick Lane on one of the evenings, which was a good experience.
We were invited to do pro bono work once a week: really interesting. Something off the beaten track for a city law firm.
