    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was challenging due to feeling bored and as if my skills were not put in to use, however I enjoyed working with the team and for the company.

  • I felt valued at most times by my colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt I was initially given little support from my line manager, however when a new line manager joined I was given a vast amount of support and guidance from this person.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was bored on a regular basis at the time, feeling I had very little to do, which was often very frustrating.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given varying levels of responsibility during my placement - initially a little, then a significant amount over a 3 month period, and now what I would say is average given my grade and role.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My time at Arup has provided me with foundation skills in many areas such as Finance and IT that will assist me in my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Initially dull, with very few people socialising and high stress levels from the group leader.

  • Little structured training, but fair induction.

  • Little structured training, but fair induction. Do not felt invested in.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Not very appealing - plan to leave shortly.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Fair social scene - would have liked to have had the chance to meet other students/graduates.

  • London - enough said!

  • Very good!
