The Role
MY time at Arup was very enjoyable. All the people in the Nottingham office were very friendly and helpful.
I felt like I was actually helping and contributing in the work I was doing.
Everyone was very helpful and willing to provide all the guidance and support necassary to complete any unfamiliar tasks.
Most of the placement I was occupied with interesting jobs although on some days there simply wasn't much too do.
I was working under one of my colleagues but for the most part was left to complete tasks as I saw fit.
Many of the things I learnt are valuable knowledge however I feel I am going to follow a different career path outside of building services.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly and willing to have a laugh.
Sometimes I was lacking any jobs to do.
I learnt from other members of staff as and when needed. I wasn't put through any training as it wasn't necessary for such a short placement
Very interested in some of the opportunities with Arup outside the building services sector.
The Culture
Didn't interact with any other placement students.
Already lived in the area so no additional costs.
Lot's of nightclubs and bars etc in the city centre.
Not during my placement, however I know that there were lots of opportunities that were coming up before and after.
