  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • MY time at Arup was very enjoyable. All the people in the Nottingham office were very friendly and helpful.

  • I felt like I was actually helping and contributing in the work I was doing.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was very helpful and willing to provide all the guidance and support necassary to complete any unfamiliar tasks.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the placement I was occupied with interesting jobs although on some days there simply wasn't much too do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was working under one of my colleagues but for the most part was left to complete tasks as I saw fit.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Many of the things I learnt are valuable knowledge however I feel I am going to follow a different career path outside of building services.

  • Everyone was very friendly and willing to have a laugh.

  • Sometimes I was lacking any jobs to do.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I learnt from other members of staff as and when needed. I wasn't put through any training as it wasn't necessary for such a short placement

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very interested in some of the opportunities with Arup outside the building services sector.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Didn't interact with any other placement students.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Already lived in the area so no additional costs.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lot's of nightclubs and bars etc in the city centre.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not during my placement, however I know that there were lots of opportunities that were coming up before and after.
