    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship as a whole was a great experience for me. The people at my branch were always there to help and they definitely made us all feel welcome. The training was also very thorough which meant you knew exactly what to expect when you went to your branch. As for the job, I really enjoyed the customer service side of Enterprise which allowed me to develop and learn new skills.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was based at the Glasgow Airport branch during the summer with 4 other interns. Sometimes there were some pretty hectic days but no matter how hectic it was my colleagues were always there to support me and make sure everything was going ok. Being an intern I thought I would have been made to feel a bit inferior, but this was not the case at all at Enterprise. I felt part of the team on my first day and my managers were excellent at making sure I was on the right tracks. At my branch we all got to know each other really well and even went on a couple of nights out together which was fun!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • This was one part of my internship that stood out the most. My managers were excellent and I have to say they are probably the best managers I have ever had in a job. They always motivated everyone and gave us all feedback to make sure we knew what we were doing.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The days flew in! I think this was because I always had something to do to keep me busy- whether that be completing my management trainee folder or helping the branch by doing some paperwork. There was always something to do which meant I was never sitting around bored.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • All of the interns were given a lot of responsibility during our internship and this motivated us all to do well. We were made to feel like part of the team and being given extra responsibility made us all feel more involved in the business.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The customer service skills that I learned will definitely be the most beneficial for my future. the level of service that customers receive at Enterprise is exceptional and throughout my internship customers were always complementing us and telling us how they have never received such great customer service. This will be a skill that will be very useful for my future career path.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was always positive and motivated. If you were having a bad day then someone was always there to cheer you up!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The training was very well set out and the fact that you got a full week of training before properly starting the job meant that you really got to know the business properly and know what you had to do. There were also a few other training days throughout our internship that taught us more about Enterprise as a multinational company and this was useful to know and also helped to teach me about the business side of Enterprise.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Enterprise invested a lot of time into ensuring we were all well trained. We got a full week of training before the job started and a further two days of training throughout the summer. Each training day was great and well structured. It really have you a feel of what the working world is actually like! We also got to go to an intern BBQ at the end of our internship. All of the interns got to go and we all presented some business ideas and then celebrated out internship with a BBQ. This was a great event and meant that all the interns could meet up to discuss their summer at Enterprise.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The branch I worked at offered me to come back at busy times such as Christmas. I also completed quite a lot of my management trainee folder which is the same scheme that graduates go on. This means that when I finish uni there is the potential for me to work for enterprise full time.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All of the interns would keep in regular contact to see how everyone was getting on and the fact that we got to see each other quite frequently at training days meant that we were always planning nights out. At my branch we went on a few nights out which were great fun and made everyone get to know each other better!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live in Glasgow so I only had to pay for petrol to get me to the airport. This meant that it was not very costly and the fact that the internship was paid well was a great bonus!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Glasgow is a great city and there is always plenty to do! There are loads of nightclubs, bars and pubs which means you can go out literally any day of the week.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • My branch arranged some nights out which meant we could socialise outside of work.
