The Role
Absolutely loved my time at Arup, now applying for a grad scheme there
I'm still in contact with my team as well as the graduates. My team was really close and I really miss working with them all.
My supervisor was a fantastic rol model, he was a very busy man but always willing to put everything on hold if I needed any advice. I once asked him for an appraisal to help me improve and he took 2 hours from work to discuss my work and give me future career advice.
There was occasionally a lack of work for placement students, but due to my inexperience this is to be expected. After six months into the placement this was much less of a problem
I was given the responsibilty of issuing roughly 200 drawing for an international project. The didn't hold the fact I was a placement student against me at all in terms of earning responsibility.
I discovered I want to go into Electrical Engineering at Arup therefore it's no particularly relevent to finishing my degree in Mechanical. But obviously after University it will be.
The Company
The office is open plan, and everyone is really friendly, it's a great atmosphere to work in.
Not particularly well organised, I think I may have got lucky with my team. The process of getting the internship was slightly ridiculous. They need a proper application system.
I had nearly the same opportunities as the grads. It was up to you to make the most of any opportunities but they were available.

Working as an Electrical Engineer for a different office but still Arup. I was offered a job at my office but I would like to move to London.
The Culture
Not so much the othe industrial trainees, there weren't very many of us, but the graduates were great.
It's expensive, but I'm at University in the area anyway so I'm used to it.
There's a huge range of nights.
Yes, there's quite a bit of sport but I can't say I got involved.
