The Role
I enjoyed the varied nature of my placement, every day was different and I had lots of different responsibilities.
I felt very valued by my colleagues as they said I fitted into the team well. Many of them came to me with problems and issues relating to work and I helped them work through them.
The management team were always there to help me when I was stuck with something but they also left me to my own devices when I was capable. This made me feel valued and like I was doing a good job.
Some days it was very busy and on these days everyone pulls together and works for the common goal and others it would be quiet but those days are good for getting extra jobs done. Overall it was a good balance of work.
I was given a lot of responsibility at my placement, at times where my manager was on holiday I had to organise the team and make sure any problems were resolved quickly and efficiently.
The skills I have achieved have been useful to put into some assignments in my final year however I feel that they will be most useful to me in my working life as I am now a fully trained manager.
The Company
We had fun every day as it was a young team however we also knew when it was time to work hard and get the job done.
There were a few problems however these were sorted quickly, it was well organised with placement training days being held so we could all meet up and share our experiences.
I had a lot of training with 6 weeks to begin with and then training days fairly frequently throughout my placement as well as personal training from managers.
I have been asked to apply for the graduate scheme with them although I will be likely to achieve a job.
The Culture
I met up with several colleagues for nights out and we all went to the company Christmas party. As placement students we were taken out for a meal at the end of placement.
I lived at home during my placement year however I did spend a lot of money on petrol.
We were able to organise charity events for the charities we had chosen.
