The Role
Enjoyable job, was provided with a variety of different tasks and taken seriously by my employer and colleagues.
I was really lucky with the team I ended up with, everybody was welcoming and helpful when asked all sorts of questions. Couldn't end up in a better environment!
Very good buddy-scheme, which takes some of the load off the line manager. All specific job related questions were easily answered by either my manager, my buddy or one of my team colleagues, depending on the nature of the issue.
I was involved in one major project as well as doing business as usual tasks of my team. I had weekly progress meetings with my manager, where I was asked about the amount of work I have and if it is suitable. Whenever I had time to spare I asked my team if my help was needed, otherwise got extra tasks assigned by my line manager if necessary.
I felt like being a part of the team in line with the other members, was given an equal amount of responsibility and trusted to be left with the tasks I was doing without anybody watching over my shoulder.
I felt like I have learned a lot through the internship, both about the work environment of a big corporation, as well as working within different groups of people towards a shared goal. It gave me a very helpful insight to the industry and invaluable experience for future career, making the transition from the university to work much easier.
The Company
Very good atmosphere in the office, everybody was focused but there was also time for some laughs. A lot of charity involvement and social happenings.
Very well organised internship in terms of training, talks by senior members of the company and social events, both for the interns and for interns to meet the other members of the company.
Very good training scheme, with a week of intensive courses and various talks thereafter, throughout the whole internship. Also had access to a massive library of online courses related to the job.
Company Parties/Events
Very pleased with the future career prospects and looking forward to start the graduate scheme next year.
The Culture
We got to know each other very well and used to meet up after work every once in a while.
Glasgow is a relatively cheap place, with tons of deals in restaurants and pubs.
The office is situated close to the city center, with plenty of pubs and clubs around.
There are a few initiatives led by the employees, such as football and different charity work, but there is definitely room for improvement.
