The Role
The overall experience was excellent. I really liked being an intern at Barclays and hope to stay for a while in this bank.
From the first day they made me feel comfortable in this team. They are always happy to answer questions, and sometimes come to ask me as I am freshly out of university. After work, they are friends. Drinks, football, Karting, team lunch, team coffee, and sweets from all over the world whenever someone is back from a trip.
My manager guided me not only in learning the job, but he always recommended the good people to ask and helped me extending my network. He even brought me TimeOut every Tuesday on my desk, for me to feel good in London.
I work very convenient hours for a job in investment banking, but during those hours the work is intense. I think this is the meaning of perfect balance.
With my manager help or my colleagues review, I had exactly the same responsibilities as any one else in the team.
Besides of the technical skills that I acquired from highly knowledgeable co-workers, Barclays was a great place to understand the system of a large company with all its complexity. It is even obligatory for interns to meet Managing Directors in different sectors of the business. Priceless!
