The Role
The internship opportunity has given me the ability to gain experience in my chosen area. I am able to complete real jobs rather than just make tea all day like other placements I have been on.
My colleagues value my hard work. I am a valued member of the team and I am given my own tasks to complete. They also are willing to help when it’s needed.
My Manager gives me support whenever it’s needed. She is very approachable and is happy to help. She also realises that I am here to gain experience and has given me opportunities to learn.
I am always busy on a daily basis. The type of company it is we are constantly on the move and there are always things that need sorting. Some days you have more work than others however I am never left with nothing to do.
I am trusted to purchase new materials from suppliers which cost thousands of pounds. The team also allow me to go on training courses to help me improve. I have my individual tasks which I am left to complete along with targets I need to hit.
The experience I have gained during my work placement is in valuable. It has enabled me to gain real life experience in a working environment and it has set me up for a future within this area.
The Company
Everybody in the office was really friendly. Always happy to help and work together as a team. They also made me feel welcome within the team and made my placement really enjoyable.
The internship set up was really good. I received all the information I needed and there was always somebody to ask if something was missed.
The company invest in your basic skills. They allow you to go on training courses to learn the basic skills and techniques in order to be able to complete daily tasks. Also having the ability to use programmes I’ve not used before has been very helpful. I started my placement not being able to use programmes such as SAP however now I am able to use these programmes.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Employment opportunities within the company interest me a lot. I would like the opportunity to stay on within the company and continue to grow and improve every day. They are a really good company to work for and hopefully a long term employer.
The Culture
The social scene amongst everybody was really good. We went out on many events and we had numerous networking opportunities.
The cost of living was a little high compared to the salary. This however is understandable as I have no experience and hopefully in the future I will be able to have a permanent job.
The night life in the area isn’t too great however its only 20 minutes from the city centre where the night life is really good.
There are numerous opportunities to get involved in outside work. There are opportunities to mentor younger children, volunteer at gigs and events and taking part in community projects.
