The Role
It provides a great opportunity to develop engineering and interpersonal skills but the work load can be difficult at times.
We have team building activities where the entire office would go out together for meals and nights out.
every intern had their own mentor assigned to them to ensure that they got the most out of the placement.
Varied from day to day depending on what was going on but there was always something to be doing.
At the start i did not do much but later as i learned more my technical judgement became valued.
Some of the technical information was GE specific but other parts will be very beneficial including the interpersonal and presentation skills.
The Company
Varied day to day
it was awkward getting started due to the security issues but otherwise everything was fine.
Provided many opportunities for independent learning in a wide variety of subject matter as well as their own compulsory training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
Only 5% of interns get ofered a bursary and graduate offer during placement. Many more can reapply after graduating.
The Culture
60 interns in company, so lots of social events.
cardiff is relatively cheap
Cardiff has many clubs although it is not really my thing.
Student city, lots to do.
