About You
The setup from start to finish promoted a challenging yet highly rewarding atmosphere and really lead to us all learning more about ourselves and also about the core values desired by a business like EY.
Both my group-mates and the coordinators and team leaders made me feel valued whenever I input towards group challenges, the feedback at the end confirmed this.
Should you have any questions at all, they will be answered. The support network was fantastic.
The skills related to leadership and character judgement were as invaluable as any academic skills if not far more.
The Company
I felt that some of the presentations lasted slightly too long and dragged out a little with break times at a bare minimum. I think if the schedule was less full then participants would be more attentive during the exercises.
People were all clearly there for the right reasons meaning that professional attitudes were taken during the daytime and at night we all let of steam which was nice.
The company clearly put a great deal of time and effort into the planning and organisation of this program and it can't have been cheap financially which is an investment in itself.
That's not really what it's all about, if anything this isn't an insight into EY as a firm at all. It's an insight into your own character and how to mould that into success at a company like EY which is exactly what people need at University. I would recommend the other EY programs if you are looking for a direct insight into the company.
The company culture was apparent through other means such as through talking with the team leaders and the way in which they presented themselves as a firm throughout- very clean cut and professional yet relaxed to some extent.
Again it's not really about deciding career paths- it's about working out how you'll best perform in your eventual career path.
Everything Else
You are well looked after while on the program and they will reimburse travel to and from for about 150 pounds. No food or drinks expenses while you're there or anything like that.
Fairly small group of EY professionals there but all were very open and personable and clearly there for the right reasons. We had a visit from a partner who talked at one of the dinners which was great. The EY leaders were all very varied in their departments which helped.
Good mixture of social events but a lot of the time we tended to be too tired from the long days beforehand to fully make the most of them. The partner dinner a particular high.
