The Role
The internship was a right mix of everything. No complaints.
I never felt like a stranger in the team. Colleagues, where most of them were directors were always readily helpful and always acknowledged the work I was doing.
Absolutely brilliant. One thing I had on the first day and never again was fear.
I mostly had interesting and new things to do. Had a lot of research to do sometimes, which made things a bit mind numbing.
I was made to work parallel with a business development director, who always made me feel at a higher position, which instilled a lot of confidence in me, which motivated me to perform better and exceed expectations.
I believe the skills I have acquired help me even in my personal life such as articulating facts and talking to someone to get something done. This makes it evident that the skills and experience I acquired will help me for life.
The Company
Serious work was going on at most times, but quite often there were short team get together celebrating some success/ opening a bottle of champagne to congratulate a business win.
For me, it was excellent. I would ignore some flaws because that reflects the imperfections even in a real job, which one needs to get used to and learn the way of dealing with stuff when not prepared.
Financial, human and other resources were well evidently invested. Even very senior executives of the bank took the time off their busy schedules to come speak with us and enlighten us with some grey hair advice.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a graduate program position for 2014. Very much looking forward to it.
The Culture
Fellow interns were of a very good nature and I quite enjoyed their company.
Canary Wharf?!! Not sure if its expensive or cheap, after all widely criticised heavily paid bankers work up there. Definitely expensive for interns.
Lots of places to go in and around the area and most of them were open till late.
Busy schedule at work kept me occupied. Didn't really check out much. It was London, so I am sure there would have been something.
