About You
It was a great opportunity to experience life in a London office where I did normal day to day activities that the rest of the firm did too.
Everyone at the firm was really friendly and helped with the work I was given. Also, I was given work which was someone else so I felt like I helped and I know that the work I was doing was relevant.
I always had someone with me whether it was my mentor or buddy.
A lot of the things we worked on were based around presentation skills which will definitely benefit me in any job or training I undergo in the future.
The Company
Everything was well planned with timings running smoothly and deadlines met.
The first two weeks were very interesting and built upon skills. However the final week where we were in the office was slightly dull as it was mainly computer based work.
A lot of time was spent in developing my skills and even learning new ones!
The final week gave me a deep insight, however this was only within one sector so I wasn't given the opportunity to try any others within the firm.
During the placement, I met with people from many different places, backgrounds and even countries
I still don't know which career path I want to take.
Everything Else
I was paid at a rate which was around minimum wage for apprenticeships.
Everyday we met people within the company from people who had just joined straight from college/sixth form to senior executives of the company. We were allowed to talk to them and even add them on LinkedIn!
There were several opportunities of networking with people in the company and finding out how they got to where they are. I also went for a few lunches with other people in my sector.
These weren't questions which came up in conversation.
I would recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a job in the city as it gives an amazing insight into what its like.
