The Role
There was quite a lot of variety, and I was able to have some influence over which projects I was put on, and therefore I worked on things which interested and developed me.
The people at EY were friendly and approachable, and willing to answer my many questions. Supervisors and managers listened to my opinions and suggestions.
Most supervisors were very diligent, despite being very busy with their own work.
The amount of work differed from day to day, but on most days, I was occupied from 9am - 5:30pm.
Responsibility varied with different projects - but I was given much client exposure, and even trusted to give a presentation to the client's top management at one point, which was a great and rare experience.
I learnt a lot about people skills and client interaction, and practised networking.
The Company
The environment felt moderately relaxed yet efficient.
There was a very good introductory induction week, which helped me to understand how to get the most out of my internship. During the internship itself, I had a counsellor who oversaw my progress. Weekly feedback and self-assessment helped to keep me on track and aware of my development.
We were given some basic training during the induction week. During the following weeks, supervisors and managers gave informal advice and explained things that I didn't understand.
Company Parties/Events
There is opportunity to work with a range of big clients, and in various industry sectors. EY will also provide me with the opportunity to qualify with the CIMA on their Advisory Consultant Programme.
The Culture
In the London office - yes. In the regional office that I was originally based at - less so.
Average for the UK
