The Role
Really enjoyable, particularly owing to the various events to look forward to each week, and it was also great to meet so many new and like-minded people.
At times I did not feel valued by my colleagues however this is largely due to their own busy schedules making it difficult for them to give much attention to the interns. There where however many colleagues who went out of their way to share experiences, knowledge and advice for the interns.
I felt that the 'buddy' and Councillor system was effective in providing us with a strong structure of support. In my particular case, my buddy was enthusiastic and helpful throughout however I found my Councillor was not always supportive and it occasionally felt as though she considered her work with me as merely a formality.
On average I had enough work to keep myself occupied with.
I felt that I was given a fair amount of responsibility, and I would not necessarily have wanted more.
I certainly feel I gained skills in efficiency, communication and networking that will assist me in my degree and beyond. More generally, the experience boosted my confidence in my own abilities which has helped me develop personally and professionally.
The Company
The atmosphere was vibrant and exciting most of the time in my office. There was however a clear sense of hierarchy and therefore people of similar levels tended to stay together.
The graduate recruitment team did a fantastic job in planning the placement. There was great attention to detail and they went beyond my expectations in terms of ensuring the interns had a varied and exciting experience.
The training was very useful in terms of developing employable skills.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
There is no doubt that EY offers a fantastic graduate scheme.
The Culture
It was so easy to make friends and most of the interns met up outside of work
London is expensive as expected! However there are still many things to do that a free of charge! For example borough market has a great atmosphere and great food.
Plenty of great clubs and bars in London.
Some interns got involved with charity runs and other sports events.
