The Role
I really enjoyed the placement and feel like I learnt so much from it. It was definitely one of the best years of my life!
It was a culture at Nestle to recognise each other's good work and saying thank you in the meetings or through emails as a form of appreciation, sometimes even in a form of a certificate!
I had never-ending support from my management. On top of that I also had a 'catch up' session with my supervisor once every two weeks where we discussed about everything going on.
It varied, some of the days I had to eat my lunch on my desk because I had too much things to do, but some other days I had nothing to do at all. Overall it was a perfect balance as we never brought work back home.
At first I thought being a placement student I would only be shadowing someone but I was wrong. I was given enough responsibilities that make me feel confident in myself and feel needed.
Working for Nestle for a year I learnt every aspects of how it feels like working for a global organisation. I didn't only develop my technical ability (I worked in the Information System team), but also some business knowledge and people skills.
The Company
Office was fun, I always got to meet (although sometimes only online) new people everyday. My team mates and I always chatted and joked around that made our busiest days lighter.
The company did not have a valid set of tasks planned for us but they always figure something out on the way to keep us busy and the flexibility in choosing what kind of work we want to do is the best thing we could ever hoped for.
There was some training courses available although we do need to propose a valid reason of why we need it and how it will benefit us
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen

Working from home
Trust me on this, you will never regret it!
The Culture
Nestle UK Ltd took a lot of placement students every year and as the youngest in the group we grew so much closer together.
Everything was very affordable, especially with the amount of money we earned :)
I had my placement in York and it has many interesting, great pubs and some awesome clubs!
There were some projects like for example promoting Nestle's recruitment in Universities open days, etc
