The Role
It was a very challenging but rewarding placement, that helped me learn a lot about myself as an employee while developing my understanding of Sourcing and Supply Chain.
Once I had proved my ability, I felt my opinion was valued and sought on areas I worked on.
All staff I worked with were supportive of the scheme and very welcoming in the office. My supervisors were always available with support when I needed them.
Work seemed very intense at the start, but as I got a handle of the work I was able to handle it. After that there was always work to keep me busy, and when there were quiet times they were always willing to support me working on new projects.
Given a lot of responsibility and treated as any other employee. As my ability grew they were more than happy to give me more and more responsibility.
My on the job skills improved an incredible amount and there were also regular training days for all interns.
The Company
The people in my side of the office travelled a lot with so it was good when it was busy, but sometimes it would only be me on that side, which could be a bit quiet.
Regular training sessions and appraisals organised throughout the internship, which was good. However there person in control of the Intern scheme changed a couple of times within the year which affected the smoothness of it slightly, although I would say I think that will be unique to my year.
The company invested hired third parties and had very high level employees give up their time to help train us. The scheme is clearly highly supported throughout the business.

The Culture
There was a good group of interns but as we were spread out across the UK there weren't too many opportunities to meet up.
Leamington Spa is quite an expensive place to live, but as warwick uni is close there are a lot of student bars/ restaurants so can be cheap for a night out.
A lot of students from Warwick live in the area so quite a few good bars, or bigger clubs in coverentry/on campus.
Plenty of opportunities depending what you are interested in, several badminton clubs in the area that were very welcoming.
