    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed working at GE, there was a large variation of work I could do and so was able to learn so much about the processes and the company. Everyone was very welcoming and due to the amount of interns working at GE there was a good social aspect to working at the Wales facility.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was very welcoming and supportive throughout the internship. The company went out of it way to allow us to get to know the people working in the office. They all supported and helped with work given.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Supervisors were in the same office and took you through everything step by step until you were ready to do the work alone.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I mainly had long term projects to do and the amount I could do on them varied from day to day.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given enough responsibility to feel I was making a difference within the company but all my work was checked and reviewed before being sent off.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a-lot from working at GE. Mainly testing and repair processes that will help with my university modules; but I have also learnt skills like communication and how to work in an efficient team. These skills I can harness through my life in future jobs.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Was very friendly, didn't feel afraid to ask questions.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were lots of training sessions set up for the interns and induction days/training for when we first arrived. As well as this we worked closely throughout the internship with our supervisors who showed us our respective roles.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We all got out what we put in. If we were willing to work and asked for more work our supervisors were very willing to give us more.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Working with such a renowned company is very appealing although the company doesn’t push you to achieve chartered status. The jobs available also don't seem to lead you anywhere.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene due to the amount of interns working at Wales.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Most of the interns stayed in Cardiff and commuted to work. It was reasonable cheap to live in Cardiff although driving to work every day was very expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Cardiff nightlife!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few opportunity’s to take part in volunteering.

    3/5
