The Role
I really enjoyed the placement - for me i couldn't have done anything better. The main negative was probably the working hours. Compared to a 9-5 of other placement students in London, standard hours were 8.30am to 6pm and sometimes i felt guilty leaving at 6!
I had a great team and manager - really valued my efforts and we always had other things to talk about outside of work other than WORK! It's a bit hit and miss talking with other placement students about the amount of support they got etc but i have no complaints.
sometimes lacking a little due to the amount of work they have. My manager had quite a large team but you learn to get on with it and ask other team members for assistance and they're always more than happy to help.
varied - sometimes absolutely manic and the day flies and then on the quieter days you have all the admin to do but i was never sat looking at the ceiling. If you have a high number of jobs to work on then that takes up your time and if you don't then you are calling clients looking for the next opportunities.
Full responsibility. This was probably why i enjoyed it so much - from developing new business and working with high value clients. The trust they put in me made me was brilliant.
erm - none really. It's a sales job i'm doing my degree to get into the job i want, not the other way around so it's not an issue.
The Company
varied with market conditions - very much a sales buzz around and everyone congratulates you if you fill a good job. I worked in the public sector around the election so things got a little gloomy, but everyone works hard.
It didn't feel like a placement which is a good thing but i think that HR could have been in contact more - arranging meetings etc. I had to approach them to get a meeting sorted before the end of my placement otherwise it wouldn't have happened.
it's more on the desk training, getting on with it and picking things up quickly. Training was there at the start but i always felt it was too far into the job. I had been here about 2 months and they trained us on things we had already been doing for a good while so it was dull and pretty pointless. Management on desk are really good here. With a sales job most of the time you're on the phone so at the start and throughout they are always giving you advice on negotiation - how to put your point across and using the right language.

Very appealing - i've really enjoyed it here so if i was to look into sales after university i can't see a reason why i wouldn't want to come back.
The Culture
placement students - not really. Your more part of a close team so most of your time is spent with them so naturally your social scene after work is spent with them.
It's London....
pretty steady - as i've said it's London so there's always something to do.
B&C run days to help in the community such as going to the job centre and helping people with IV technique - cleaning up parks around the area etc so things on that side...
