The Role
I enjoy the learning curve that is experienced with each new client that is introduced. I thrive in discovering new aspect of the law that I have not encountered before.
My research skills learnt in the university is being utilised by the team leader who has identified I am capable of doing this whenver a matter needs it. I am also treated as if I have been apart of the team for a long time despite the fact that I just started a couple of months back.
The supervisor is approachable and maintains an open door policy. If I have any question all I have to do is ask and she will answer and if i need further assiatance she will take time to go through the process with me explaining why we are doing it along the way.
I am very busy during the day but that is part of what I enjoy it makes the day more meaningful when I go home I feel I have achieved something.
In some matters I have been given full reign but with once in a while supervision to see if everything is running smoothly but in more complicated matters I only provide assistance but the team takes it time to explain to me what is going on and the reason decisions are being taken. I still feel a part of the process.
It is giving me an insight into the wiorking of a law firm. some of the things that I am learning now will be applicable in some modules in my third year and the career path that I have choosen. The skills am learning such as how to deal with client will be invaluable once I have qualified in future.
The Company
It is sociable and most of the people get along. Humor is an engine used to keep the morale up am everybody. Everybody is treated in respectable manner and the mood is laid back but things are achieved as all work together
You are treated as a regualr employee therefore there is no difference with others and given the same experience. You get a feel of how your future work will be.
In the first week on is taught all the data processing system one is going to use how they operate. There are also online courses that can be taken to develop skills.
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
It is a great commercial firm to work with by the fact that it is well established and all over the contry.
The Culture
We arrange night outs, eating out and going to theatres and cinemas. Social activities are encouraged in the firm as this is one of the brand requirements.
It is relatively fair.
I am not a night person but according to what I have heard its great.
Yes there is always something happening that someone in the firm has organised and all are invited.
