The Role
That was indeed so far the best professional experience I have ever had. Mostly because of the people. People in BAML are one the smartest traders on the street. It is extremely challenging as well as motivating to work in such environment. Truly great experience.
If you are good and perform well during your internship, you will be valued properly. In BAML management and HR made every effort to find all interns who were talentend and passionate about markets. That was fantastic because you were assessed on many different angles.
Management was very supportive and it was clear for all interns how much attention they pay for hiring the best interns to the firm.
Very busy, but it is a 2-month opportunity to learn more than during the studies.
As an intern in sales and trading you are not given a lot of responsibility from the very begining. It is your job to be active and engage in the work of your desk. It is very important to show inititative.
I had an opportunity to develop important programming skills and more practical approach to the financial markets.
The Company
Good atmosphere and working condition.
HR organised it perfectly. They organized social events, networking events with senior leaders of the firm and speaker series events. It was very valuable from the perspective of the potential different career paths in the company.
The firm organized one week training for all interns and special trainings for those interning specifically in trading. Traders spent a lot of time with interns to deliver us an outstanding training.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
International Travel
Prospects are very impressive. The firm is a global leader in the financial industry and one of the best employers.
The Culture
Cost of living was high but the compensation is competitive. During the internship social events were mainly organized and financed by the firm. In reality the "socialising" costs were one of the lowest.
The HR department organized volunteering events for all interns across the firm. It was important to take a breathe from the work and do something more for the local community.
