    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working at KPMG was a really enjoyable experience and gave me a great insight into what it is like to work at a Big 4 firm. I was given lots of unique experiences both in audit and other areas.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone at KPMG was so friendly. One of the key things that made me feel valued was that you are pretty much unaware of hierarchies- even the partners are so helpful and take and interest in you.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I didn't get given a specific mentor, but this was irrelevant as my whole team essentially took on the role and I could've asked anyone in the department when I needed help.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When I was out at client's I was always kept busy with work. However, there were some days in the office when there was little to do since I was working in the quiet summer period.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Depended on who I was working for. On some jobs I was given a great deal of responsibility which was exciting, but I was also given more basic tasks which was to be expected as an intern.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a great deal about working in a professional environment, working with new people in different teams as well as industry specific which will assist me in my future career.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There were some socials organised by departments, and in our department we all had lunch together on Fridays. Everyone was really friendly.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything before the internship was very well organised. One thing particularly helpful was the facebook group set up which helps to match you with others in a similar position. There could have been greater organisation once on the internship, in terms of having organised intern socials for example.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Didn't really receive any formal training, but sometime if I was not busy I completed some courses on their online business school. These were great to have access to and were quite useful.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • KPMG is a great environment to work in and the qualification offered is unrivaled. Working with KPMG will be a great way to kickstart my career.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We organised meals and drinks with the other interns.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very reasonable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nice bars and lots of clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had one department social whilst I was there, but I know they were organizing a number of other events too.

    3/5
