The Role
This placement involved a variety of roles and responsibilities which made the job exciting and different. On a daily basis new challenges would occur, so you were always on your toes!
Everyone that I met, both on the site I was allocated and Head Office staff, were very supportive and friendly.
I felt comfortable to talk to both my Line Manager and General Manager about any worries. They would both deliver 100% support and guidance on any topic.
The job is demanding as being at a motoway service station there is always something to do, whether it would be serving customers, doing orders etc. Time would fly by on a daily basis so you will never be looking at the clock waiting to go home!
I feel that I was trusted by both my Line Manager and General Manager to complete tasks. I would be responsibile for many different tasks for both the department I was allocated and the site.
This placement allowed me to put my theory into practice and gain skills that I never knew I had, as I received a variety of training relating to management and on site duties. It gave me an eye opening of the working world and allowed me to gain vital experience for future employment and career decisions.
The Company
Every department sat near each other, so we all chatted whilst worked and made the moments fun.
I received a lot of support and training throughout my year.

The Culture
It was hard to socialise outside of work with other placement students as we are all based at different sites, however having welcome days, courses and end of year farewell was great as we all shared our own experiences when we met.
I managed to find a B&B with a fixed monthly price and commuted back to my home town on my days off. This was cheaper than rented a room.
There were regular nights out for the managers on site which allowed everyone to socialise outside of work and it involved going to different locations each time.
There is a variety of towns, villages near by to access shops, gyms etc. however depending on where you live it may be a little drive!
