    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I liked the people I met and worked with during my Internship, the only problems I had were mostly technical and took a lot to resolve.

  • I was actually part of a small team (me and 2 other team members) which helped me feel valued and also received a lot of support from them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was really helpful most of the times, but I was required to work on a project that went over his knowledge so I had to learn on my own and finally teach him.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked from 8 to 4 daily, I had some duties I was required to take care each morning and then the rest of the time I was mostly working on my project.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt that I was given a fair amount of responsibilities considering my time there.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • We had a training at the beginning of the internship. However I was required to use a lot a VBA, for which I did receive support.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was nice, with friendly people, had dress-down Fridays, pizza days.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found it to be quite well organized in terms of the campus recruitment team. However, due to the constant problems I had with my computer I felt as if the team I joined was not fully prepared to have another member.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a 3- day training at the beginning of the internship and mandatory online training before the start of it.

  • I will most probably take on the offer for a graduate position with the company

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we used to meet up quite often and we got along quite well.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Considering the area is Canary Wharf, the pubs are sometimes quite expensive.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary Wharf is not in my opinion the best place for a night out.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had plenty of socializing event during the internship, also we had a day when we went volunteering.
