    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • In terms of the organisation, I loved my experience at Microsoft! The culture was innovative, flexible and you were encouraged to voice you opinion. Unfortunately after the year had finished I realised that HR was not my business area of choice for the future.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My manager invited me to weekly meetings, and I was involved in twice-annually commitment reviews to discuss my performance.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt that the majority of opportunities that I involved myself in during my placement year were of my own doing, although my manager supported my decisions.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The HR role is a full time job, the rest of the team perform the same roles so I always had tasks or deadlines which I enjoyed, but I balanced my time to be involved in other opportunities.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I took part in a high-level project during my placement year which required me to relocate to another subsidiary for 2 months, that was alot of responsibility!

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Thanks to the opportunities at Microsoft I have developed skills in presentation, communication, organisation, time keeping, customer service and many others which have prepared me for applying to graduate jobs!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The HR team had targets to reach and alot of responsibility, however we ran charity bake sales, pumpkin carving and other activities which were great fun, alongside team bonding outside of work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. Well structured and a number of opportunities to network with other Interns.
