The Role
The job itsef was really challenging buy really rewarding at the same time. I feel that I have learned a lot from it, and it was really nice to goto various destinations and talk to other companys about various technology.
I felt like a regular member of the team. You couldnt distinguish between permanant staff and year long placements.
Support was there if you asked for it on a weekly basis.
I was always kept busy with things to do to keep me occupied. Very few occasions were this wasn't the case and I was too busy.
As mentioned before I felt like a normal member of the team. I was responsible for purchasing various things. Shipping things back from destinations. Setting up demonstrations. Etc
I feel that I have learned so much on my placement. Mostly due to the fact that I was pushed so hard. I do however feel that more training could of been offered to offset the steep learning curve.
The Company
Really nice atmosphere could talk about various other things than work. Often light hearted humor as wel..
Work placement was set up incredibly. Due to the fact ARM are a huge company they have many placement students so infrastructure is already well set up and established for placement students.
I feel that I could have had more training but some training was definately offered.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
I will definately be applying to work at ARM next year.
The Culture
Unfortunately nothing out of work seemed to be happening that I was interested in. With no sense of meeting and greeting, This isn't true for everyone however that is just my experiance.
Cambridge is a very expensive city compared to the North.
Nightlife exists but its extremely expensive and not as good as various other cities.
Various things you could get involved with. Unfortunately nothing took my fancy.
