The Role
Everyone was very accommodating, always offering for you to reach out to them for help or opportunities.
I got on really well with the whole department.
Not only did my manager meet with me every week but I was lucky enough to be situated close to the Internship coordinator so I often connected with her to discuss my progress, alongside this I worked closely with another team who constantly checked in with me making sure I had enough work to do and that I was getting on okay.
Some days were more hectic then others, but that is the nature of the role, and I really enjoyed those busy days as I felt like I had done so much by the end of the day and it was a challenge.
One of my projects I ran almost independently, checking in with my manager and supervisor for budgeting reasons. I enjoyed being trusted with the responsibility and after this project was done I was more then happy to take on other challenges independently. however I often worked as part of a team helping out with the smaller tasks, which I also enjoyed because the work I was doing was still very useful.
Skills such as communication skills, introducing yourself to strangers, language used in corporate situations are all skills that can't be learnt from a book. This was a very valuable experience and taught me a lot, I feel that after leaving Bloomberg I am a much more confident person.
The Company
Bloomberg is an amazing place to work, everyone is friendly, there are often campaigns going on in the office. Some internal, to do with a certain focus in that office and others international, such as when the Royal Baby was born.
The internship was great, in my department I didn't have such a rigid structure but I was aware that departments such as Sales and R&D had a schedule to work to which ensures that they get the most out of their internship. I enjoyed the flexibility I had, it enabled me to work on various different projects alongside each other and meant that I could get involved in a lot of different area's of the business during my placement.
Bloomberg have a internal education system called Bloomberg University and they offered certain seminars to give us tips on important business skills such as Presentations, CV & coverletters and networking. There was also the option to go on visits to places like the Bank of England, where we learnt about the history of the bank and our money which was very interesting.

The Culture
Some interns in the larger departments had a great social scene, in my department I worked with one other intern, who I made great friends with, but I also connected with the other employee's which was equally as fun.
London is a fairly expensive place to live, however if you know some London Students they will give you tips on the best places to go!
Shoreditch is not far from the Bloomberg office and is an amazing place for post work drinks, dinner or even a night out.
We had a volunteer project in week 5 of the internship, there was also Netball for the girls and Football for the boys should you want to join in. My department were also very nice and would invite me to lunch with them which was a nice break from the office sometimes.
