The Role
It can be difficult working in the NHS as every decision is under so much scrutiny
I am lucky to be in an office where everybody is so friendly, helpful and supportive. Working hard is always recognised
Although I had to undertake tasks on my own, I have had a great deal of support if I am ever stuck from my managers. They always have time to go through things with me
Sometimes I am left waiting around for responses and sometimes I am very very busy. It comes in waves, but it is the nature of my placement I suppose
In terms of my specific project (communicating with GP's) I have had to take on a fair bit of responsibility as I have had to write and produce all of the documents myself
I have learnt how to apply my University knowledge to the real world. It isnt all smooth sailing, thats something all Uni students should be taught!
The Company
My office is a very nice one. Everyone gets on and we cna have a laugh
At the beginning it was a little difficult to establish my role, it was a learning experience for us all
I have had help and advice and training in different aspects of the communicatiosn department, from online to PR
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
In this current economic climate, no one can be sure of job prospects due to the huge cut in government spedning, but it is definatly somehwer ei would condsider in the future
The Culture
There where not any other placement students, as because i was mainly wokring with top managers, i was very young in comparison, so the social scene wasnt exactly buzzing
It was pretty cheap here, as its in the north the cost of living isnt too bad, well compared to London!
The night life in Liverpool is amazing. As it is a student city there are things going on all week, it reminded me a lot of my own student city Newcastle
As I work in a hospital, there are always fuindraising events going on
