The Role
The placement was highly interesting with lots of hands on experience and managerial experience gained. It has been a huge benefit to myself.
All staff who work alongside you, for you and above you are highly friendly. They make you feel very welcome and part of the team instantly.
The Aldi training scheme is a fantastic scheme, they give you excellent levels of training and then allow you to display those skills adapted in real business situations.
The content daily was excellent, the work load is vast, however good time management makes completing this, easy and efficient.
It is unbelievable how much experience and responsibility Aldi allow you, you run a store for 5 weeks, as well as the projects at head office, which are actually rolled out and used on both a regional and potentially national level.
The skills I gained have already made visible changes to my performance at University, the work is a lot more familiar as you are more related to business terms, and you can relate situations to your work placement. 5* and I would recommend a placement to anyone.
The Company
The office side was great, as was the stores.
The placement set up was fantastic, although you have fixed holidays, 2 weeks off over Christmas and New Year is unheard of in retail, however, we were given this. You are never without a duty, due to the tight training programme schedule.
Priceless amounts of training is invested into you, and this is visible throughout your learning experience.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Pending a 2:1, you have the opportunity to return on the graduate scheme, in a 'fast track' mode.
The Culture
You become very close to your colleagues and I have built excellent friendships with my placement peers.
I lived at home for the year, however my colleagues could not do this due to travel times, they lived rent free in a company flat.
I lived at home, so the nightlife was standard, however the salary you are on at Aldi, enables you to go wherever you would like. It is affordable.
Yes, plenty of opportunities to enjoy activities outside of work.
