The Role
It was a great internship. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in doing quality work for great clients, supported by brilliant people.
Even as an intern you are made to feel at home and your opinion is often asked before making a decision about the transaction you've been working on.
When they say open - door, they mean it! You can walk in and ask advice from a trainee, associate or a partner with equal ease. The online resources are also excellent.
As an intern you won't be given a great amount of work but between the training sessions, internship project and work assigned by seniors, you will be kept pretty busy. You have the liberty to leave at 5:30 unless you have some urgent work.
One is given quite a high degree of responsibility and it's really well complemented by guidance and supervision from seniors. You are allowed to work on the first draft of a number of documents, reaserch and memorandums before your senior corrects it, gives you feedback adn sends it over to the client.
It's tough to arrange too many training sessions during a single month, but you cover about 8 - 10 training sessions from different departments. In addition the advice from the trainees, associates and partners is invaluable.
The Company
While it wasn't all fun, the atmosphere is definitely lively. In their free time peolpe converge in one office and chat away to glory.
The internship was extremely well organised. Starting from the social events right down to the lectures. You might find an overload of training sessions on some days, but I'm told that's to be rectified.
Considering the fact that I was interning for only a single month, I think the firm put in a lot of time, money and effort to train me regarding the basics of the departments I was working in and providing an overall view of the firm as a whole.

The Culture
People were extremely friendly and I think we had a plan for 'after work drinks' every single evening. We met up often on the weekends as well.
I was accomodated pretty close to the office and therefore transport wasnt an expense. The socialising was expensive, but nothing that cant be handled on the stipend paid by the firm.
While the ngiht life in that particular area was pretty lively, we usually went over to livelier parts of london to get a drink or visit clubs.
Everyone had an option of joining the cricket, football, etc. teams of from the firm and one could always get engaged in pro - bono work. Unfortunatley, due to the length of the internship, it wasnt possible to participate fully in the pro - bono work since the work was long term sometimes.
