The Role
A very worthwhile and eye opening experience. I met a lot of great people at the company.
I worked in a remote team, so it was easy to feel isolated from time to time.
My manager and I had a fantastic relationship. We spoke regularly, but I rarely saw him, which made things slightly difficult.
I tried to be as proactive as possible in my role, but it was not uncommon for me to be left without work to do. I very much worked on an ad-hoc basis as and when my manager needed things done.
Varied. It totally depended on what I was doing, but I did have an opportunity to assume some high responsibility work.
This placement won't help me specifically with my university course, but it has given me a fresh perspective heading back to my final year, which will allow me to implement a much stronger work ethic. It was a fantastic stepping stone before starting my career on a full-time basis.
The Company
Almost no one in my immediate team was in the office on a daily basis, but there was plenty of people about all the time.
I wouldn't suggest my role was set up extremely well, but HR did quite a good job of co-ordinating over 100 interns over the course of the year.
There is an abundance of online training, but I would have preferred some hands-on personal training.

I have to apply back, but I think there is more chance of getting a place on the graduate scheme than if I was an external application.
The Culture
It is as good as you want it to be. Completely depends on how much effort you put in.
Reading is cheap relative to somewhere like London. I paid £300 a month in rent, which was pretty standard.
Reading has a few decent bars and clubs.
