The Role
I was lucky to have a very 'hands on' manager who I saw every day - but I'm aware that this is not always the case.
The job has peaks and troughs - so some months were very intense and involved working at weekends, others were very quiet. Flexible hours helped me to keep a work/life balance.
As well as assisting on numerous larger events and projects I was given my own events to run, in addition to being encouraged to seek further opportunities out.
Not directly related to much of my degree matter, but many transferrable skills developed.
The Company
The people make a placement - I was lucky to have good colleagues to occupy me at lunch and tea breaks, but the atmosphere in the office is a little stale at times.
Good onboarding process and numerous support channels
My manager allowed me to attend paid for training courses in addition to the generic training/skills development offered by IBM to all students.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Working from home
Applied for graduate scheme but no fasttracking offered by the organisation to interns
The Culture
Inner London - always going to be expensive!
Good bars - central London has more on offer than any other city!
Competed in the Corporate Games in Liverpool for IBM in May - they also actively encourage employee volunteering
