The Role
Microsoft really helped me to grow by giving me lots of encouragement, responsibilities and the endless opportunities made available to me.
I felt equal to everyone on my team. They always gave me lots of responsibility and wanted to hear my opinion.
I had the most amazing manager who I met with regularly. She always made sure I was clear on what I had to be doing and she really helped me to meet my personal goals as well as work commitments.
I often had a lot of work on and had to put in a lot of extra hours. But it was a great learning curve for me and helped me to work out a good work/life balance.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. But the responsibility was only ever given to me once I was ready and felt comfortable to take it on.
Now I am back at university I am so much more organised. I have a much better work/life balance and a more efficient work style.
The Company
There was always an event, internal launch, charity work or even festive celebrations going on.
The placement year was extremely well run. HR always new what was going on and also kept us updated and ran events through the year.
I was given lots of personal training and development. I took all of the Microsoft office exams. I even did a secondment on another time during my placement to develop my skills in another area.

Company Parties/Events
Getting a graduate job with Microsoft will be very much hard work as they have so many applicants and very few places, especially within marketing.
The Culture
There were many socials and mid year events organised for the interns. There was a summer festival for all employees for the 30 year anniversary. There was a great festive market at Christmas.
Reading is a student town so there are lots of student places that we could go to.
Reading have lots of good clubs, bars and restaurants in town, but not as many as some of the big cities.
So many volunteer opportunities and to get involved in extra teams.
