    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I loved it! It was not what I was expecting. EY was not pushed as a firm; the focus was really on us, our needs and the development of our skills.

    • We were treated very well - all stayed in the same hotel, all eating meals together. It did feel like one big family.

    • All EY employees were more than happy to answer questions openly and honestly about their experiences with the firm and their experiences in their career generally.

    • This tends to vary at different times of the year, but overall it is a busy job.

    • There was a very detailed timetable which was kept to flawlessly.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I developed my leadership, teamwork and communication skills, as well as my confidence.I hope that these skills will stay with me.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The other Academy members were great; there was no element of competition as everyone was told from the beginning that we would all be fast tracked to an interview for a Summer Internship. The fact that we all stayed in the same hotel and that the hotel hosted all the activities contributed enormously to the relaxed, fun atmosphere

    • The Academy was entirely focused on our personal development. Every minute counted.

    • The company invests in your professional training and education provided by some of the best tutors in the country.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • I made some great friends for life and we still keep in touch despite being in different universities.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • I lived in central London so it was quite expensive to live there, but never had to worry for not having enough money to cover my rent and bills so I enjoyed it.

    • I worked in Central London so the Nightlife is fantastic!

    • Definitely: through different networks, sports clubs, department socials or Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives!
