The Role
It was a 13 month placement which really was an eye opener to corporate life. The organisation was very systematic about training new recruits and it was an enjoyable experience overall
There were quite a few team building events in the organisation which gave a chance to interact with colleagues at all levels. Most people were quite motivating and helpful for newcomers as well
Support from my immediate superior was always there, at the same time the group head would also have monthly meetings to discuss issues
Initially had to spend quite some time to learn as well as perform well, but a few months down the line I was quite comfortable with the job and even took on additional responsibilities so I could learn more
Once I had settled into the job I did take on additional responsibilities and my immediate superior was extremely helpful in guiding me throughout the process
The financial analysis skills and problem solving abilities that I developed on the job along with ability to prepare detailed business plans would definitely help in any job in future
The Company
The culture in the organisation was great, when working everyone was serious and focused but in the canteen and for events got to really enjoy and build relationships
Since the organisation is so reputed and has been in the business for so long, the entire joining process and handover from previous intern was very systematic and well organised. Every stage is properly defined and explained so I could pick up quite fast
I had a great deal of training when I first started, some was applicable to Intel Corporation and some was more general like presentation skills, time management
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Intel also has a graduate scheme to work towards, this provides motivation to impress your manager/team so that perhaps you could be given the opportunity to come back once you have finished your degree
The Culture
There are quite a few interns within Intel itself so always had a group that was my age and enjoyed socializing once in a while.
A little on the higher side but since I was not socializing every day I didnt really feel the pinch too much
Not too active this side but a little away there are many options for all ages
There were many raffles and charity work that was on offer and reduced price tickets for events e.g. go karting, trips to london. Intel did a lot to involve everyone and celebrate as many occasions as possible
