The Role
My placement year was hard work but has definitely built up my confidence. it opened me up to a lot of opportunities with regards to projects given to me.
I was always praised and tanked for work I contributed within the team.
I was always able to ask questions if I needed assistance however big or small. The amount of support I was given was tremendous allowing my abilities to strengthen.
I was always busy and had to managed day-day tasks amongst my main priorities/projects. sometimes it was difficult to prioritise but throughout the placement this become a lot more easy.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement and was definitely a team player within a small team of three people.
I am a lot more able to analytically evaluate situations before I try to solve them whether it be a trivial chore or work for my University studies. common sense amongst skills have developed greatly whilst being on placement.
The Company
At times the office was quite sparse. Many of the managers had meetings to attend and this affected the office environment a lot. also due to small teams and large work loads, many people where busy, in-turn the office was quite quite. There was occasional chit-chat but nothing that latest more than 10-15 mins as work had to be completed.
My placement was definitely a proper job. I was sent on relevant training courses and got stuck into my projects from a very early stage. I did not feel as though I was a student due to the fact that I had a proper job role and was part of a team.
I attended a few training sessions which where at the beginning of my placement. Once I was more settled within the role - no further training sessions were allocated to me, this may have been due to budget.

I may apply for the graduate scheme at BMW UK Ltd, although places open a year after I graduate and I want to get into work as soon as my degree finishes.
The Culture
There were 18 interns whilst working at BMW UK Ltd. We were all extremely close and spent time together outside of work.
Bracknell was close to reading, cost of living was quite cheap i.e. bills. Eating out and socialising was not bad either.
I was a 7min train ride from reading so the night-life was good.
There were no activities for girls within BMW UK Ltd. There was a men's football groups but that was it.
