The Role
BAT provided a place for me to grow as an individual as well as improve my hard/soft skills. The day to day office/ laboratory environment is relaxed/friendly but focused and driven
People in different teams were always friendly and happy to help.
I was given space and opportunities to make my own informed decisions where applicable but my managers were always there to help when required.
The day to day work varied through the month. Laboratory work had day to day requirements than report writing or presentation. There is always something to do if you want to keep yourself busy.
I was given my own project to carry out from start to finish. These responsibilities ranged from analysis, to data gathering and report writing to lab work.
I improved many of the skills needed to work in a “real life” situations outside University such as Team work, communication, understanding corporate culture, effective time management and so on.
The Company
Relaxed and friendly
It varied from one department to another. There is room for improvement.
Organised and encouraged to participate in talks and trainings organised at the site. There were also some national training opportunities outside the BAT site.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Quite good. I am quite sure I will be joining them in near future
The Culture
Yes, very much so.
It depends from place to place but relatively cheap in the student areas.
There are student areas where there are plenty of pubs and clubs for people with different taste. The ocean village also provides with different restaurants and pubs/clubs
Sports and social (badminton, basket ball, different seasonal events), nights out etc
