The Role
My experience from working as an intern has given me a real passion to continue to work here. I have developed valuable relationships with colleagues both inside and outside of work, and enjoyed attending social events such as the summer barbecue. I have enjoyed varied work and the opportunity to work with many different clients.
I felt valued by my colleagues from day one. I was immediately given the trust of my colleagues for responsibility for my own work. I have developed valuable business relationships with colleagues both inside and outside of work, and enjoyed attending social events, such as the summer barbecue and drinks after work. I have successfully worked as part of a team in many situations including working with colleagues at clients, raising money for charity and also creating a sensory garden, as part of my internship for the company.
My supervisor would always be there to support me and ensured that I understood all the work that I was given. It enabled me to gain me to continue with the work I was given with confidence that I was completing it correctly.
Each day I was assigned with a piece of work. The workload was always achievable within their target time, so that it did not cause stress to complete the work. And on days where I wasn't given as much work to do, my colleagues were always to let me help them with their own work.
I was treated like a full time employee and was given responsibility from day one. I was given ownership over specific tasks and I was able to liaise with clients independently to ensure I could complete the work I was given.
I have developed many of the core skills in business, such as confidence in communicating to clients, IT skills from compiling spreadsheets and using different software models, teamwork from working within an audit team and developing business relationships. I was also given the opportunity to visit Grant Thornton's training campus in Bradenham where I learnt how to prepare and deliver presentations.
The Company
Whether I was working at the main office or another office, everyone was enthusiastic about their work and was willing to explain what they were working on. Everyone was very welcoming and willing to help. There was dress down days for charity and a family atmosphere.
Each day I was assigned work to do and informed in advanced which office I will be working at that day. There were training days, corporate responsibility days and days when I would meet clients. Throughout the internship we had reviews and had to complete an evaluation form.
There was several induction days and three training days at their campus in Bradenham. Whilst working at clients my supervisor would explain in detail how to carry out the work i was given and assisted where necessary. Throughout the internship I felt that the company had every intention to offer a graduate job if I worked to level at which they expected.
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a graduate job after my internship

I was working in Manchester so the cost of living and socialising there was very reasonable.
A wide variety or pubs, bars and clubs for all ages
The opportunity to attend social events, such as the summer barbecue and drinks after work. Also the opportunity to play 5-a-side football after work each week.
