The Role
Once I proved myself and felt more confident in what I was doing my colleagues gained more confidence in me and I became a valued member of the team.
My manager went above and beyond. She provided guidance on interpersonal and presentation skills as well as supporting my interests in research and opened doors for further work experience in research.
This was highly variable. But most of the time I had plenty to do!
I was able to develop skills outside the immediate remit of my job. I gained laboratory experience which has inspired me to apply for PhDs
The Company
Very friendly and supportive. We had socials and cake in the office fairly regularly.
It was well organised but allowed flexibility to complete my own project and allow me to explore my own development path based on interests. It wasn't overly organised in a way that might be restrictive.
Very good personal development plan scheme. GSK also provided further funding for me to extend my placement and gain laboratory based research experience on top of my year spent in the office.

Looking for a different type of experience next. But wouldn't rule it out in the future.
The Culture
Great social life among students. Large number of students in same office. Good staff parties and socials for birthdays, leaving do's etc.
Didn't manage to save much money! Living in London is expensive but I aimed to just enjoy it while I was there
Immediate area, not brilliant, family area. Had to travel into central London, but once there, so much to do!
